The newest Star Wars Target Exclusive are the Order 66 sets, comprised of a Jedi or Sith leader and a clone trooper subordinate in a cool cylindrical package. While all of the figures are repaints, the clone troopers are all new "characters" in plastic for the first time. While the validity of these characters having anything to do with Order 66 can at time be questioned, they're all excellent figures. Read on for an indepth review of sets #2,#3, #5, and #6. Also available, and not showcased in this review, are set #1: Emperor Palpatine & Commander Thire and #4: Obi-Wan Kenobi & Utapau AT-RT Driver. Packaging: The Order 66 sets are packaged in very attractive clear plastic cylinders. The figures are fixed in plastic shells attached to the bottom of the tube, so they are very visible and look great against the different background images. The tube itself is pretty solid and durable, but the thin plastic is easy to scratch. Beneath the figures are their names, and in the center the set's number (out of 6). The top of the cylinder is imprinted with "Star Wars Order 66." The back of each package features artwork of the two figures inside plus a brief bio. Set #2: Mace Windu & Galactic Marine Here is another questionably-named Order 66 set. Mace Windu was killed before Order 66 was even given. Oh well. This purple-accented Galactic Marine was never seen onscreen, though he does bear a striking resemblance to Commander Bacara's troopers. Mace Windu is a repack of the 2005 EIII Mace Windu, with an ignited purple lightsaber and soft goods cloak over the standard tan Jedi outfit and brown boots (dull brown versus the shiny brown cloak included in the Mace Windu’s Attack Battalion set). It is a decent Mace figure, made better with the cloak. The action feature is nice for the kids, and is really the only drawback for "collectors." Mace has a ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists (the right one is easily removable), waist, and hips. The purple Galactic Marine is a repaint of the 30th Anniversary Galactic Marine. He has the following articulation: ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, wrists, waist, hips, ball-jointed knees, and ball-jointed ankles. The Marine comes with a blaster rifle and backpack (with peg that fits into a hole on his back). The armor differs from standard clone trooper armor, and has a stiff close-fitting skirt, large boots, belt with large containers, heavy-duty breastplate, removable harness and shoulder pad, and removable helmet. The deco of this Galactic Marine is very dissimilar to that of the 30th Anniversary version. Where that Marine featured solid colors and relatively little detail, this Marine is mostly white with lots of painted details. His undershirt and pants are dark purple, and all of the armor over it is primarily white. The arms and legs have gray and purple sections, the belt is multi-colored, and the helmet has stripes and dashes. Looking at the two Marines side by side its hard to tell that they’re the same mold. The look of the Galactic Marine is very distinctive with the different armor and bibbed helmet. This one, in "Mace Windu purple" is even more individual. The Marine is a neat figure and works well in a Mace Windu squadron display, or along with the other Galactic Marines lead by Bacara. Set #3: Darth Vader & Commander Bow Order 66 set #3 includes Darth Vader and Commander Bow, leader of the 501st. Again, while this set doesn't exactly match what we see of Order 66 in Episode III, it's certainly worthwhile. The fully armored and black-clad Vader does continue to lead the 501st in the hunt for the Jedi, thus continuing the mandate of Order 66. This Darth Vader figure is a repack of the 2005 Evolutions set figure. The only difference is that the helmet does not come off on this version. Darth Vader comes with his ignited red lightsaber and has soft goods cloaks with silvery (fabric) neck chain. Vader is articulated at the neck, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, forearms, waist, hips, ball-jointed knees, and ball-jointed ankles. Commander Bow is a blue-accented repaint of the 2005 Episode III Clone Commander first released in red, then green, then yellow for Commander Bly. This is an excellent clone body, with the following articulation: ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, wrists, hips, ball-jointed knees, and ball-jointed ankles. Commander Bow also has the standard skirt with holsters for the pistols, shoulder pad and harness, and adjustable helmet-mounted visor. Accessories include the heavy blaster rifle and two blaster pistols. Commander Bow is a very clean trooper, for the most part. His armor is brilliant white, and the blue is very striking and clean in the standard Clone Commander patterns. He even has the 501st leg stripes. There are, however, a few dirt stains on the legs. While Bow may not have appeared in Episode III, he is an EU personality and this is a great toy on its own. As always, the blue 501st clones are very popular, and this one will make a great addition to any clone army. The Evolutions Darth Vader is widely held as one of the (if not THE) best Vader figures ever made. I am a huge fan of this figure, and in at least one way it's even superior to the Evolutions version; the helmet isn't loose and doesn't fall off on this one. If you don't have the Evolutions Vader, this set is a must buy. The low price for both Vader and the excellent Commander Bow is a no-brainer.
