"It's time to kick butt and chew bubble gum... ...and I'm all out of gum."
Sorry, couldn't resist using that "Duke Nukem/They Live" quote because I'm giddy over bubble gum... of the anime variety. Read on:
Yamato USA announces that they will be importing to the US a very limited quantity of action figures based on the futuristic MegaTokyo tale Bubblegum Crisis. Manufactured by Atelier-Sei of Japan and distributed overseas by Yamato USA's parent company Yamato, this collection stars the four cyber-enhanced ladies of the Knight Sabers (click for a look): Sylia Stingray, Priscilla S. (Priss) Asagiri, Linna Yamazaki and Nene Romanova. Each 6" figure stars 22 points of articulation, interchangeable heads and display base... all packaged in a collector's style window box.
As stated above, each will be extremely limited in number for US release: less than 250 per style. Because of this (and that they are another companies product), Yamato USA has settled on a MSRP of $74.99 on each figure; a price they feel comparable to that of Japan (¥6,500= US$58) with shipping (¥1,680=US$15).
Still expensive? Sure, but don't go shooting the messanger (or distributor in this case). Yamato USA is simply trying to place these fine collectibles in the hands of US collectors. Rack it up as the "price to pay" to own a piece of Bubblegum Crisis history.
