Star of the hit CW series takes on a Wendigo...

Following their exclusive Scarecrow bust (read our review HERE), CineQuest.com turns their talent to the human stars of the hit CW series Supernatural, the Winchester family.

Dean Winchester leads the charge with this recently released 7" tall mini-bust. Come July, fans will be treated to his father John Winchester from "Devil's Trap," and while a bust of Dean's brother Sam has yet to be announced, one can be certain it will be made.

This sculpture of the "Supernatural" spook slayer captures Dean as he appeared in the episode "Wendigo". In the installment, Dean and Sam pose as Park Rangers to help a brother and sister search for their lost sibling. The Winchester brothers believe a bloodthirsty creature called a Wendigo is involved and so the adventure begins.

This bust is phenomenal, but before we get to the reasons why, let’s take a look at the box it ships in. Like the Scarecrow, Dean's packaging is really a nice piece of work. Full color images adorn all four faces of the box, while some side text provides some background on this intriguing character. It's a very atmospheric design, capturing the tone of the show and gearing you up for the collectible inside.

Pulling the bust from its protective Styrofoam insert, it’s immediately evident that the craftsmanship here is top-notch. The gang at Atomic Monkey have crafted something fun and crisp to look at. Dean is portrayed here as he leads the flesh-eating Wendigo through underground tunnels away from the others, guns cocked and at the ready.

Let’s take a look at the detail of the body, his jacket and shirt are perfectly detailed and painted to perfection. While it’s not colorful, it is an excellent rendering of the outfit from the episode. There is some great shading and use of colors on the jacket; some muted reds and greens providing some worn-in depth.

Dean's hands both grasp guns, both nicely sculpted. The detail on the hands alone is awesome, from the dirt and grime to the fingernails. The guns are rather simple, but then again, they are straight black. The detail is dead on though, so that makes up for the lack of paint applications here.

Moving up to the head we find a great representation of actor Jensen Ackles in all his bloodied glory! Dean’s face is a fine example of the talented sculptors that inhabit Atomic Monkey, and the details here are amazing! The paint and details here are nice, and really add to the bust. They have applied some blood and cuts to his face, making it appear that he has taken a heck of a beating as he tried to lead the Wendigo away from the others.

The base of the bust is cool, with Dean’s name standing out from the rest of the black base. I really like the fact that the base is a simple solid color so that it doesn’t pull your attention from what you should really be paying attention to.

On the bottom of the base, you will find the number of your bust which is hand written. Mine was 239 of 750. Once again, I really love low numbered busts, especially on something that doesn’t have a large production run.

CineQuest.com has really given Supernatural fans something to look forward to with the release of each bust in this series. I’m excited for the future of the Supernatural bust line, as there are so many characters beyond the Winchesters that'd be great as resin collectibles.
