Hasbro’s convention exclusive at BotCon 2009 was the Wings of Honor set, showcasing the Autobot Elite Guard from Cybertron’s distant past. It features a young Kup and three of his compatriots, plus one of their deadliest enemies. All are repaints or remolds of older toys. Most came with additional weapons or Cybertron Keys, but these items were not included in the set I was given to photograph. Pics were taken at the Hasbro booth in the BotCon Dealer Sales Room.
Kup is the smallest toy in this set, just a young Autobot Elite Guard recruit. He is a light blue redeco of the Cybertron Red Alert toy with a new head. He comes with Red Alert’s alternate hand accessories and a Cybertron Key to activate special features.
Thunderclash, originally a European Transformer, is a redeco of Energon Rodimus in white with red accents. This Autobot comes with a weapon, and can combine with other Energon toys just like the original.
Flak has made the huge leap from Micromaster (G1) to a huge vehicle in this set. A redeco of Cybertron Defense Scattershot, Flak has a new head and arctic camouflage pattern. His Cybertron Key accesses additional weapons.
Landshark is the largest Transformer in the set, and the one with the most options. A redeco of Energon Landmine, the ‘Shark has a green and orange paint scheme. Like the original, this toy has the separating and transforming trailer section that can augment his robot mode or become a separate weapon station. The final Transformer in the Wings of Honor set is a Decepticon that fans of the 1986 animated film know well, Scourge. This version is a repaint of Cybertron Sideways in dark blue with red accents and a new head thatrecalls the original character art. His Cybertron Key activates the same features as the original.
