One of the more interesting anime series to come out in the past year was Afro Samurai. Created by the amazing studio Gonzo and FUNimation, the show depicts the quest of Afro Samurai to take revenge on Justice, the manthat killed his father and became the "Number 1" warrior. Afro Samurai is voiced by Sam Jackson, and debuted on the Spike TV network before coming to DVD.

DC Unlimited now brings fans action figures and statues based on the hip show. On display at the DC Direct/Unlimited booth at SDCC was the entire first line of figures, including Afro Samurai, Ninja Ninja, Justice, and Kuma. Each is highly detailed and articulated, with appropriate accessories. The clothing and hair sculpts are incredible and each figure has elements that really stand out: Kuma's Teddy Bear helmet, Afro's hair, Ninja Ninja's scarf, and Justice's tattered clothes and ridiculously longheadband! These figures will hit stores in January of '08.

Also coming early next year are statues. In January DC Unlimited will release a 2-figure piece depicting Afro Samurai and Ninja Ninja on a detailed base. Follow-up statues in March include busts of Afro and Justice, each with a prominent "AFRO" base.
