NECA had a variety of amazing new figures based on the fan-favorite 2008 video game Gears of War 2 on-hand at this year's Toy Fair in New York City.

Hitting retail this month is NECA's Gears of Wars Series 3 which includes a new Marcus Fenix (with added articulation and snarling head sculpt), three new Locusts: Cyclops, Grappler and Palace Guard, as well as a new COG soldier. To make the new Marcus in this wave even more special, NECA has packed a rare gold Lancer with a select few figures. The odds of finding one are about 1 in 25 figures, so keep your eyes peeled! Fans can expect a full review on this exciting series in the near future.

NECA also announced new figures for Series 4 and 5. Series 4 will include Colonel Hoffman, a Ticker (which NECA is planning to have a special action feature to make up for its smaller size), and multiple types of Locust Grenadiers. A Regular Grenadier (torso shown) and Flamer (full body) were on display, but other types NECA mentioned that will either make Series 4 or future assortments include Beast Rider and Poison Lambent Locust.

JACK, a hovering utility robot in the game, was also shown in prototype form. NECA hasn't decided quite yet how this figure will be released, though ideas mentioned include it being packed in a future box set or in a future wave of variant Gears of War figure repaints as a build-a-figure.

Series 5 was also represented by an awesome prototype of a Boomer. NECA plans to release multiple Boomer types in Series 5 including Regular Boomer (full body shown), Mauler (head sculpt shown), Grinder and Butcher. These will include awesome in-game weapons such as the Mulcher and Boomshield.

Also shown was NECA's new 12" Marcus Fenix with Lights which is hitting retail now and a prototype for a new line of stylized figures. The designer toy line hasn't been named yet, but the idea is for the brand to feature NECA's many licensed characters, such as Marcus Fenix pictured above. More details on this new endeavour as we receive them. Lastly, a Gears of War San Diego Comic-Con exclusive is very likely. NECA is tossing around a few cool ideas that I think fans will really enjoy.
