EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: NECA's "God of War"

Two killer figure versions of KRATOS arriving this March...

In March 2005, Sony released the fan-favorite PS2 video game God of War and, in doing so, created one very successful video game. Winner of the 2005 “Game of the Year” award from both the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences and IGN, God of War has become a sensation, making the game’s main character - Kratos - somewhat of a celebrity.

An ex-Spartan warrior, Kratos made a deal with Ares (the Greek god of war) in exchange for victory on the battlefield, essentially becoming Ares' slave for all of eternity. Not a gig I’d wish on my worst enemy...

However, when Ares’ murderous rage threatens to destroy Athens, the other Greek gods recruit Kratos to destroy him using a plethora of weapons, tricks, and skills.

Thus, in the video game , it’s up to Kratos - armed with the “Blades of Chaos” – to solve puzzles and hack-and-slash his way through Greece in search of magical items, weapons, and armor that will help him defeat Ares and regain favor with the gods.

As previously revealed HERE, NECA brought Kratos to life in true action figure form and plans to release two God of War action figures in March.

Standing a little over 7” tall, NECA’s new Kratos figures are ready to “hack and slash” their way through your collection and reign death and destruction upon your G.I. Joes, Masters of the Universe, and Sports Picks...

The first version of the figure - "Kratos" will include his “Blades of Chaos” as well as two flaming arches of chain that the blades can be attached to - allowing fans to pose and reenact the characters’ many amazing stances and moves from the game. This particular figure will include an “aggressive, open-mouthed” head sculpt.

The second version of Kratos will be from the forthcoming God of War 2 video game (God of War 2 is due out in stores next month). "Kratos in Golden Fleece Armor" will include the trusty “Blades of Chaos,” as well as a different right arm with the “Golden Fleece Armor” and an alternate right hand holding Medusa’s Head. This figure will include a “serious, closed-mouth” head sculpt.

When both versions are collected, fans can swap the interchangeable heads, hands, and weapons of the video game warrior.

Both versions will also include an amazing amount of articulation, including a ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed torso, ball-jointed wrists and ankles; swivel/cut joints at the biceps and thighs; a V-cut crotch; and standard swivel/pivot elbows and knee articulation. With 18 points of articulation total, fans of posability are sure to be happy...

According to NECA, there is a possibility God of War fans could see a 13” Talking Kratos this summer as well. The 13" Talking Kratos would include a push-button to activate lines of dialogue from the game/s, multiple points of articulation (similar to the 7” version), and in-scale accessories from both previously released 7" Kratos figures.

This fall, God of War fans may also see figures of other characters from the hit game and a fully-armored version of Kratos in Ares' Armor from the new God of War 2 game.

With the success of the first God of War game and the release of its sure-to-be successful sequel coming in less than a month, fans of Kratos and the God of War action figure property can rest be assured that NECA has everything under control.
