Hailing from the popular Capcom game Final Fight, femme fatale Poison hits toy shelves with a new 11” PVC figure and an interesting backstory. The character was originally featured in the first Final Fight game in Japan as a minor enemy and part of the Mad Gear Crew. However, when the game was imported to the U.S., they chose to change the scantily-clad character and her female counterpart Roxy to men to avoid issues with violence against women. The explanation was given that she was a pre-op transsexual that changed depending on if she was in Japan or the U.S. Regardless of her unusual back story, Poison has been very popular with the Capcom staff and lives on as one of the few Final Fight characters to be introduced into the Street Fighter series. Many of the villains in the Final Fight series got their names and look from various rock bands, with Poison’s coming from the band of the same name. Master sculptor Mitsuma Yoshizawa captures this look beautifully in this sexy homage to a video game classic. PACKAGING: Poison has a unique packaging design that is different than a lot of the anime figures I have seen. Her white box is highly decorated with explosions of color on each side in hues of red, yellow, and pink. The subtle handcuff graphic is a nice touch to the amazing figure photos that adorn each side of the box. You not only get a standard front window displaying the figure, but there is also a surprise circular window in the back to give you a peek at her behind. The figure itself is in the standard clamshell to keep it protected, along with a plastic cover to protect her paint applications. SCULPT: If Poison’s manly background had any truth, you certainly wouldn’t know it by looking at the amazing sculpt of this piece. The feminine form is captured perfectly in this stunning, sexy PVC statue. The tone and definition given to her stomach, neck and legs make up the most impressive part of her sculpt and give her a more realistic look. The figure has a very appealing look about her, with the short shorts unbuttoned, the incredibly small shirt sliding off the shoulder, and the biker hat and high heels to complete the ensemble. Poison’s hair makes another fine addition to this piece. The strands of her hair flail wildly out behind her, several pieces separately sculpted. She has an almost “come hither” look on her face as the lightly dangles her handcuffs on her finger. Along with the handcuffs (which have a real chain), a chain belt and metal arm bangle add to her look. Overall, Poison makes a beautifully sculpted piece from top to bottom. PAINT: The paint apps on Poison finish off a very stellar figure. The paint scheme compliments the sculpt with very subdued colors except her bright pink shoes. The airbrushing on her skin ads the definition of the sculpt and I love the brushed detail on her jean shorts. The only disappointment in the paint department is the hair. Rather than airbrushing color on like the skin, they chose to paint purple streaks in her hair that look like they were drawn on with a marker. COST & OVERALL IMPRESSION: If you’re a fan of Capcom, or video games in general, you will love Poison. The great pose and attitude of the statue add to the appeal. Anime and figure fans everywhere will appreciate the way this sexy figure looks standing on their shelves. The only antidote to this “Poison” is to pick up your own today... if you can find her. Unfortunately this sexy piece is sold out on Yamato's website. Try one of our fine sponsors listed above, this is one dangerous gal you won't want to miss.
