Based on the anime/manga, Comic Party is a comedic story about a couple dealing with the comic book industry. Takase Mizuki is the on and off girlfriend of potential underground comic book artist, Kazuki Sendo. Takase Mizuki has no interest in the comic book world to the point where she’ll divert her boyfriend with other interests just to get away it.

With the popularity of the 13 episode anime title, there’s bound to be a statue made. Enter the 1/7 scale PVC statue of Takase Mizuki. This collectible is manufactured by Yamato under their Story! Image! Figure! line and sculpted by French Dool (Cerberus Project TM).

PACKAGING: This PVC statue comes in a standard, four-sided box. Various shaped windows allow the viewer to look inside without the box being opened. The left and right side of the box consists of two windows that are shaped like bottles of ink. On the front of the packaging, there is a window resembling that of a spiral sketchbook.

All of this is supposed to simulate the silhouette of an artist's tools. The top of the box has a big oval window which helps brighten up the statue for those who'd like to display their figure collection in their original package. There are also picture clippings of the statue in different angels.

SCULPT: When displayed out of the box, the statue is about 6 inches tall. One of the included accessories is a sketchbook with the word "Croquie" (meaning quick sketches of live models) written on it. The statue sits on a replica of an ink bottle, which is 1:1 scale to an actual bottle of ink.

The sculpt on this statue is nicely detailed. She has long hair tied by a bow that connects to the many short clusters of hair. Precise facial features are present underneath her bangs. Both collar and cuffs on the jacket are nicely sculpted. A striped turtleneck shirt which drapes over her miniskirt doesn't leave much to the imagination. The hands are accurately sculpted to the minute details of her fingernails. The shoelaces on the shoes are sculpted nicely and the thigh-high stockings aren't too thick. The attention to detail on this statue is spectacular. Every ripple and fold you would expect is naturally there.

PAINT: The paint job is nicely done. The majority of her clothing is a flat color with very slight tones. Her striped turtleneck shirt has two colors which also show in the sleeve area underneath the jacket. There are slight color tones on her clothing which can go unnoticed. The most impressive toning is in the hair as well as on her skin. Her hands have the best noticeable texture with the colored fingernails. They even toned and colored her panties in two different shades of color.

COST: The Takase Mizuki PVC statue retails fo $68 and is available now at Yamato Toys.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Everything about this PVC statue is well done. Takase Mizuki is nicely sculpted, beautifully colored, and highly detailed. My favorite item is the life-sized ink bottle.

My only gripe about this PVC statue is her long hair that's behind her. Right out of the package, I had to bend the bottom portion of her hair in order for her to sit on the bottle. Also, because the hair is so long, Yamato had to separate the hair pieces. That being said, you can definitely see the partition on the joining parts. It's very noticeable from every angle.

Aside from her troublesome long hair, this is a nicely made statue.
