ToHeart2 is a Japanese visual novel that has since become an anime and manga series and is a sequel to the original ToHeart. In the game, players assume the role of the shy young man Takaaki Kono and interact with a cast of female characters in the attempt to end up in an intimate relationship. The two female figures from Kotobukiya in this review are secondary characters from the game.

Yuma Tonami is a student at Takaaki’s school who often collides with him while riding her bike. She always blames him and often challenges him to duels, probably due to her rich family upbringing. Manaka Komaki is a classmate who helps others, serves as class representative, and assists the library club. The shy Takaaki can relate to Manaka, as she is also quite shy around boys.

SCULPT: While the outfit seems very contradictory to her character, Yuma and also Manaka are dressed in maid outfits. What fit the characters are the poses and expressions that each character portrays. Yuma seems to be at home in the outfit, having a more revealing neckline and a set of garters under her skirt. She has her hand on her hip and a gesture with the other that coupled with the smile on her face seems to suggest she thinks she looks pretty good. Manaka, on the other hand, has a nervous fidgety stance like she is embarrassed, with her arms behind her back and a shy little smile. The sculpting on both accentuates their cuteness and focuses on the many details of their outfits. The maid outfits are sculpted with many folds and a lot of rippled, frilly accents. Everything is very nice looking and well-sculpted, making the simple designs more interesting. Both figures also feature a non-removable base made to look like a wooden floor.

PAINT: The paint work is simple and clean with very few colors used on the figures overall. The outfits are a navy blue with white accents on both characters. Both figures also have some airbrush work on their outfits as well as their hair, where it stands out the most. Of special note is the shimmering copper color used to give Yuma her nylons. Both girls also have very clean eye transfers to complete the character’s look.

OVERALL: Fans of bishoujo girls, especially cute ones in maid outfits will love these figures. If you are a fan of the game or just like anime figures, these are a must-have. You can get both of these great figures now from Kotobukiya.
