This week we’ve had the pleasure of sharing with you exclusive reveals of upcoming Star Trek Attack Wing content from WizKids Games, and following after some Dominion and Klingon we’re moving on to another warlike race, the Romulans!  Encrypted transmissions have revealed a cache of personnel, weapons, and technology information that you’ll see here before anywhere else, so let’s dive right in.

11 of 26 - Mirok

A ship is worth nothing without its captain, and now your Romulan vessels can be commanded by the brilliant and diabolical Mirok.  In The Next Generation he was a scientist trying to create a new type of cloaking device, and was willing to sacrifice the entire Enterprise to further his goals.  In Attack Wing a previous version of the Romulan was a 4 skill captain who could repair his ship when allies were nearby.  The new Mirok is a 3 skill captain that costs 2 points, and his ability is an action that gives his ship a Scan token AND if it’s Romulan lets it perform another action from its Action Bar as a free action!  This is a very good option for Romulan fleets as most of their ships lack the Scan action.

16 of 26 - Parem

Returning to the game in a new version is one of Mirok’s officers and a man who attempted to murder Ro Laren, Parem.  The first version of this character that let you discard him and a Crew upgrade from an enemy ship, with several restrictions that made his use very situational.  Parem is back as a 1 point Romulan Crew upgrade once again, though his use is different and he’s here to protect his allies rather than hinder his foes.  During your planning phase, you can discard Parem and target a friendly ship; this round Tech upgrades on that ship can’t be affected by opposing effects!  Don’t fear for your unique or single-use upgrade getting shut down and make sure you can pull off your complex Romulan strategies.

24 of 26 - Interphase Generator

Another returning upgrade that pairs perfectly with Mirok and Parem is the Interphase Generator.  This is a case when a new version does the same thing as its predecessor, though it looks a little different and uses the new Attack Wing verbiage.  In short, the Generator can be discarded from an uncloaked ship to ignore an attack and instead suffer one regular damage.  It’s still a 3 cost Romulan Tech upgrade, but the new workings change from “reducing damage” to “canceling” the attack, potentially changing other game interactions as well.  The Interphase Generator is also limited to one per ship via the new icon.

22 of 26 - Additional Weapons Array

Sneaky officers and new technology are great, but when it comes to ship vs. ship combat you need to get your hands on powerful weaponry.  Coming to the Romulan faction are two cool Weapon upgrades starting with the Additional Weapons Array.  The Federation and Mirror factions have had access to Additional Phaser Arrays, and a previous version of the Weapons Array upgrade gave Romulans a medium range secondary weapon attack.  The new Array is quite different and more straightforward; it’s a 3 cost Weapon limited to one per ship that says simply “when attacking this ship rolls +1 attack die.”  If you have the spare points this is a very easy way to increase the lethality of your ships without delving into secondary weapons.

20 of 26 - Forward Disruptor Banks

Lastly today we’ve got the Forward Disruptor Banks.  Again, there was a similar previous upgrade (called “All Forward Disruptor Banks”), but the new version is distinct.  For 3 points the ship on which it’s equipped rolls +1 attack die the round it performs a 2 or 3 Bank!
