SDCC 2017: Weta Workshop

Master craftsmen Weta Workshop were at San Diego Comic-Con again, once again amazing attendees with their mix of movie props and collectibles. Their name to fame, Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit, was front and center with a variety of new statues. These included Thandril on Elk and the Mouth of Sauron on Steed.

Speaking of LOTR, Weta debuted a new “Mini Epics” vinyl figure line of characters. Bilbo, Gollum, Gimli, Moria Orc, and Uruk-Hai Berserker launch the line this December priced at $30 each. Pre-orders are currently open at www.wetanz.com/shop.

Other movie properties  shown included Weta’s work for Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie (check out his new short Oat Studios short films!), the Netflix sci-fi Spectral, and their amazing cyberpunk work on the live action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell.
