So many toy and collectibles companies come to San Diego Comic-Con with exclusives, and some of our favorites are the ones that go all out with lots of items so there’s something for everyone.  And every year Monogram (booth #3645) pleases the fans and collectors with a whole slew of exclusive products across their various keychain, pin, figure, and other lines showcasing lots of big properties and characters.  The good folks over there sent us a whole slew of their SDCC 2017 exclusives so we can give you some exclusive sneak peeks, and we’re going to tackle them one batch at a time.  First up on today’s list are some very special items from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Nightmare Before Christmas, Freddy vs. Jason, Beetlejuice, and Sailor Moon!

Those may sound like five very different properties, but what they have in common is Monogram’s treatment of them in their signature 3D Foam figure series.  At retail you’ll often see these surprisingly sturdy and heavy figures in blind bags, with a fun style to them with exaggerated proportions and bright colors in a chunky 2-2.5 inch package.  For convention exclusives Monogram typically offers multi-figure boxed sets that include rare or chase figures, figures that have not yet been released at retail, etc., and that’s exactly what we’re seeing here.

Kickin’ it old school are the original colorful TV heroes in the Power Rangers 3D Foam Key Ring 5pc Set ($40, 500 pieces).  With the everlasting television franchise chugging along and the recent big-budget film Power Rangers are huge right now with fans and this is a great way to celebrate the long history of the property.  The five pack includes standard versions of the Yellow, Pink, and Black Rangers plus the rare metallic versions of the Red and Blue Rangers.

If you’re looking for something a little darker then Monogram has not one but TWO exclusive items based on their horror series of key chain figures for you.  The first celebrates a 1988 cult favorite with the Beetlejuice 3D Foam Key Ring 3pc Set ($25, 300 pieces)!  In it you’ll find the titular character and all-around weirdo Beetlejuice in his Wedding Suit plus Lydia Deetz in her Red Wedding Dress and a rare translucent Sand Worm, the first two from Monogram’s Horror Set 2 and the Worm from Set 1.  While the two “wedding” figures are in living color (especially concerning Beetlejuice’s green rot and the vivid red outfits), the Sand Worm is practically invisible but if you look closely you can see all of the great sculpted detail is still there.

Iconic slashers rule the next exclusive, the Freddy vs. Jason 3D Foam Key Ring 3pc Set ($25, 300 pieces).  Of course the two headliners are included with the specific versions of knife-glove wielding Freddy Krueger with hat and Jason Voorhees with axe from Monogram’s Horror Set 1 and Set 2 respectively.  Also from Set 1 is the true original Friday the 13th killer, Jason’s mom Pamela Voorhees!  She appears in a rare translucent form just like the Sand Worm in the above set, and similarly she’s super hard to photograph but looks great in person.

Turning back from horror and mayhem is the decidedly more light-hearted Sailor Moon 3D Foam Key Ring 3pc Set ($25, 300 pieces).  This is essentially a special pre-sale as the Sailor Moon blind bag set doesn’t hit retail until later on this year, so not only can you get this pack early but you can guarantee taking home Usagi as Sailor Moon, Luna, and Mamoru as Tuxedo Mask.  I may not be the biggest fan of the property but I was very impressed with these figures, especially all of the little sculpted details on Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask.

1nbxUSE

The last exclusive we’re looking at today is sort of a combination of themes we’ve seen above, and it features a different spin on Monogram’s foam figures.  It’s Disney’s Nightmare Before Christmas 3D Foam Magnet 2pc Set ($10, 500 pieces)!  It’s no surprise which characters are included: Jack and Sally, of course.  Both figures come from the Nightmare Before Christmas blind bag set but here have large magnets mounted on their reverse sides.  I love magnet toys, and this set has a great low price point for collectors or SDCC attendees looking to bring home something cool for their loved ones.

If you’re going to SDCC and you like these 3D Foam Key Rings and Magnets make sure Monogram is on your must-shop list and find them at booth #3645.  Check back here as we continue our look at lots more of their SDCC 2017 exclusives before the big show!
